The Proper Way to Wear a Mask
The Importance of Fit
Other than its construction, the most important factor in whether a mask is effective is whether you know how to wear a mask properly. Even for basic cloth masks, how you wear it when you’re using it can be far more important than its filtration efficiency. All the filtration in the world won’t mean anything if the air you want to filter simply flows around the sides of the mask.
How to Wear a Reusable Cloth Face Mask
Our cloth face masks are made with two layers of knit American cotton and designed to fit snugly over your nose and mouth. Follow these steps to make sure your mask is as effective as possible:
1) Identify the top and bottom of your mask. The tag should be on the left side of your mask, with the size label facing in toward your face and the StringKing logo facing out.
2) Fit the face mask over your nose and mouth, pulling the elastic straps behind your ears. If your straps are adjustable, tighten them for a secure but comfortable fit.
3) The top of the mask should fit over the bridge of your nose. The bottom of the mask should fit under your chin.
4) Remove the mask after use and wash it. Be careful to touch as little of the mask as possible. Wash the masks using a standard machine wash & dry cycle.
