Strings & Stringing Supplies for Custom Lacrosse Pockets
Meet the Pocket: The Components
There are five main parts of a lacrosse pocket. The best pocket in lacrosse starts with the best stringing supplies.
Lacrosse Mesh - provides the body of the pocket and holds the ball in your lacrosse stick.
Sidewall Strings - the main strings that attach the mesh and pocket to the head of your stick.
Bottom Lace - a less abrasive lace that connects the bottom of your pocket to the throat of your head.
Shooting Lace - large, soft laces that help fine-tune your pocket and dial in your release.
Shooting Cord - thin nylon strings that help fine-tune your pocket and dial in your release.
Meet the Pocket: The Lingo
Lacrosse lingo can be intimidating! Here are the main things you should know about lacrosse pockets:
Hold - how well the pocket maintains possession of the ball. More hold means better ball control, but can make throwing more difficult.
Feel - how much you can feel the ball in your pocket. More feel means a more responsive pocket, and is mostly a matter of preference.
Whip - how low the ball's trajectory is when you throw. More whip means the ball travels downward once it leaves your stick. Whip can also help add power to your shots.
Channel - the general shape of your pocket. A tighter channel means a narrower pocket and more hold, but can also decrease consistency. A wider channel typically means less hold, but delivers more consistent performance.
