Which Women's Lacrosse Mesh Is Best for You?
The pocket is what catches, holds and releases the ball. In women's lacrosse you can string it with mesh or with a traditional pocket. Two things decide the right one: how you want the pocket to feel, and how much upkeep you want to do.

Quick Picks
Each of these comes as a kit with everything you need to string it.

Mesh or Traditional?
Mesh
A mesh pocket is easier to catch with, breaks in quickly, and needs little upkeep. Our Women's Type 5 and Type 4 play the same in any weather. Most players, and almost every new player, should start with mesh.
Tech Trad
Our take on the traditional pocket: two vertical runners with cross-string diamonds between them. It gives players who like a traditional pocket more hold and accuracy, with weather-resistant materials that need little upkeep.

What Makes Them Different
Knit
Women's Type 5 uses a Dual Diamond knit that guides the ball to the same spot in the pocket, for a release that's the same every time. Women's Type 4 has an open channel, softer and easier to catch with.
Weight
A lighter pocket makes a quicker stick. Women's Type 5 weighs 16 grams and Type 4 weighs 18 grams. Grizzly 2 is 20% lighter than Grizzly 1.
Weather
Rain and heat can change how a pocket plays. Our women's mesh and Tech Trad are made to play the same in any weather, with little upkeep.
Goalie mesh
Goalie heads are much wider, so they need goalie mesh. Grizzly mesh is built to soak up shots for fewer rebounds and throw sharp outlets.

Is My Pocket Legal?
Mesh and traditional pockets are both legal in girls' and women's lacrosse.
Officials check that the ball moves freely in every part of the head and pocket. Under the 2027 high school rules, the pocket must attach to the head through its stringing holes.
A pocket gets deeper as it breaks in. Check it during the season, and tighten the bottom string if it gets too deep.
