Which Women's Lacrosse Shaft Is Best for You?
The shaft is the part of the stick you hold. In women's lacrosse, every field player uses the same length shaft, so the choice comes down to three things: metal or carbon fiber, how it feels in your hands, and your age.

Quick Picks
Every shaft below fits our women's heads and works at attack, midfield or defense.

Women's Metal 2

Carbon · Value
Women's Composite 2
Carbon fiber at a lower price. 160 grams.

Ages 10 & up · First shaft
Women's Starter Shaft

Ages 9 & under
Women's A Series Youth

Metal or Carbon Fiber?
Metal
Metal 3 Pro and Metal 2 are aluminum alloy. Both have a thin profile for more feel while you cradle. A hard check can dent a metal shaft.
Carbon fiber
Composite 2 Pro and Composite 2 are carbon fiber, with the weight placed so the shaft sits naturally in your hands for smooth cradling. Carbon fiber doesn't dent, but a heavy blow can crack it.
Neither one is better for everyone. Pick the one that feels right in your hands.

Feel, Weight and Youth Sizes
Feel
A thinner shaft is easier to hold and gives you more feel for the ball. The Women's Metal 3 Pro is 3/4 inch thick. The Women's Metal 2 is thin with a slightly concave shape.
Weight
A lighter shaft makes a quicker stick. Our best women's shafts weigh 130 grams. The Composite 2 weighs 160 grams and costs less.
Youth sizes
Our youth shafts are 28 inches, shorter and thinner for younger players. The Women's Starter and Starter Junior shafts come with the adapter that fits our women's heads.

Is My Stick Legal?
Girls' and women's rules set the length of the whole stick, head included, at 35.5 to 43.25 inches. Our 32-inch shafts make a 42-inch stick with our women's heads.
The whole stick must also be on USA Lacrosse's list of legal sticks. Every StringKing women's head is on the list. See our women's head guide for the pocket rules.
