Which Drop 11 Fastpitch Bat Is Best for You?

A drop 11 bat weighs 11 ounces less than its length in inches, so a 30-inch -11 weighs 19 ounces. It's the lighter of our two fastpitch drops, for more bat speed and control.

Metal Pro Fastpitch -11

One-piece aluminum alloy with a balanced swing weight.

Certified by USA Softball, USSSA, NSA, ISA and WBSC, with a 2 1/4 inch barrel.

A -11 fits younger players and anyone still building strength. It's a common drop for ages 8 to 13. Common lengths: 28 to 30 inches for ages 8 to 10, and 30 to 32 inches for ages 11 to 13.

These are common starting points, not rules.

The Metal Pro Fastpitch -11 comes in these sizes.

Three quick checks:
• Put the knob at the center of the chest and hold the bat out along the arm. The fingertips should reach the end of the barrel.
• Stand the bat next to the leg. The knob should reach the palm.
• Hold the bat straight out to the side for 30 seconds. If the player can't, it's too heavy.

Move up to a -10 when the -11 feels easy to swing and the player wants more weight behind the ball.
Go lighter than a -11 if the player is late on pitches. Many younger players use a -12 or -13.

Drop isn't limited by the rules. The certification is. Check that your league accepts the stamp on the bat.

High school and USA Softball: a USA Softball mark, and not on the non-approved list.
USSSA: the USSSA 1.20 BPF stamp.
NSA: the NSA stamp.
International: on the WBSC certified list.

The Metal Pro Fastpitch is certified by USA Softball, USSSA, NSA, ISA and WBSC. See our fastpitch bat guide for more.

Is a -11 too light for high school?
Not for every player. Many high school players swing a -10 or heavier, but a -11 works well for players who want more bat speed.
