Which Drop 10 Fastpitch Bat Is Best for You?

A drop 10 bat weighs 10 ounces less than its length in inches, so a 30-inch -10 weighs 20 ounces. That's one ounce heavier than a -11 at the same length, for a little more weight behind the ball.

Metal Pro Fastpitch -10

One-piece aluminum alloy with a balanced swing weight.

Certified by USA Softball, USSSA, NSA, ISA and WBSC, with a 2 1/4 inch barrel.

A -10 fits older and stronger players. It's a common drop from age 11 up through high school. Common lengths: 30 to 32 inches for ages 11 to 13, and 32 to 34 inches for ages 14 and up.

These are common starting points, not rules.

The Metal Pro Fastpitch -10 comes in these sizes.

Three quick checks:
• Put the knob at the center of the chest and hold the bat out along the arm. The fingertips should reach the end of the barrel.
• Stand the bat next to the leg. The knob should reach the palm.
• Hold the bat straight out to the side for 30 seconds. If the player can't, it's too heavy.

Move down to a -11 if the player is late on pitches or can't control the bat.
Move up to a -9 or -8 for a strong high school or college hitter. We don't make those drops.

Drop isn't limited by the rules. The certification is. Check that your league accepts the stamp on the bat.

High school and USA Softball: a USA Softball mark, and not on the non-approved list.
USSSA: the USSSA 1.20 BPF stamp.
NSA: the NSA stamp.
International: on the WBSC certified list.

Is a -10 too heavy for a 12-year-old?
Not for a strong player. If she can hold the bat straight out for 30 seconds and still swing it on time, it's a good fit.

Is there a warranty?
