Which Senior Hockey Stick Is Best for You?
Senior sticks are for players about 14 and up, usually 5'5" and taller and 125 pounds or more. Three things decide the right one: the flex, the curve and which hand you shoot.

Quick Picks

Best
Composite 2 Pro Senior
Our lightest senior stick, with a second bend point for more power.

Value
Composite Pro Senior
Raw carbon fiber finish and a mid-low kick point, at a lower price.
Both come in left or right, flex 75 to 105, three curves and a grip finish.

Which Flex Do I Need?
Flex is how many pounds it takes to bend the shaft one inch. A common starting point is about half your body weight.
| Your weight | Common flex | Our flex |
|---|---|---|
| About 125–175 lb | 75–80 | 75 |
| About 150–200 lb | 85–95 | 85 or 95 |
| About 180–235 lb | 100–105 | 105 |
Go lower for a quicker release on wrist and snap shots. Go higher if you're strong and take a lot of slap shots. Many forwards now use a lower flex than their weight suggests.

Flex, Length and Weight
Each flex comes at its own length. Weight is for the whole stick.
| Flex | Length | Composite 2 Pro | Composite Pro |
|---|---|---|---|
| 75 | 60 in | 365 g | 385 g |
| 85 | 61 in | 380 g | 405 g |
| 95 | 62 in | 400 g | 425 g |
| 105 | 63 in | 415 g | 445 g |
Cutting a stick makes it stiffer, by about 3 to 5 flex for every inch you take off. Each of our flexes comes at a set length.

What Length Do I Need?
In skates: stand the stick straight up in front of you. The end should come to between your chin and your nose.
In shoes: the end should come to about your nose.
Shorter gives more puck control. Longer gives more reach. Cut a little at a time, because you can't add length back.

Which Curve?
| Curve | Shape | Lie | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| SK92 | Mid curve, open face. A similar shape to the popular P92. | 6 | All-around play. The easiest curve to start with. |
| SK88 | Mid curve, slightly open face. A similar shape to the P88. | 6 | Stickhandling, passing and wrist shots |
| SK28 | Toe curve, very open face. A similar shape to the P28. | 5 | Toe drags and quick lift. The hardest to learn. |
New players should start with the SK92.

Composite 2 Pro or Composite Pro?
Composite 2 Pro
Our newest senior stick. It's about 10% lighter than the Composite Pro at the same strength. Its variable flex adds a higher bend point to the mid-low kick point, for a quick release with more power on bigger shots.
Composite Pro
Our value senior stick. It has a raw carbon fiber finish, with no paint to add weight, and a mid-low kick point for a quick release with good power.

Kick Point
Kick point is where the shaft bends when you shoot. A low kick point loads fast, for a quick release on wrist and snap shots. A mid kick point takes longer to load, for heavier slap shots. Our sticks have a mid-low kick point, a balance of both. The Composite 2 Pro adds a second, higher bend point for more power on bigger shots.

Left or Right?
Hold a stick the way you'd shoot. If your left hand is lower on the stick, closer to the blade, you need a left-handed stick. If your right hand is lower, you need a right. Your writing hand doesn't tell you.

Questions
Should I get 85 or 95 flex?
Start near half your body weight. If you're between them, take the 85 for a quicker release, or the 95 if you're strong and shoot a lot of slap shots.
Is a senior stick too long for me?
You can cut it down. Cutting makes the stick stiffer, so if you'll cut more than an inch or two, start with a lower flex.
