Which Drop 10 USSSA Bat Is Best for You?

A drop 10 bat weighs 10 ounces less than its length in inches, so a 30-inch -10 weighs 20 ounces. It's the lightest drop we make for USSSA, and the easiest to swing. It's the right bat for most players 12U and under.

Legal: USSSA 12U and under.
Not legal: USSSA 13U, which requires -8 or heavier, and 14U.

Common starting points: age 7 to 8 swings a 27- or 28-inch bat, age 9 to 10 a 29-inch, and age 11 to 12 a 30- or 31-inch. Size up for a taller or stronger player.

Three quick checks:
• Put the knob at the center of the chest and hold the bat out along the arm. The fingertips should reach the end of the barrel.
• Stand the bat next to the leg. The knob should reach the palm.
• Hold the bat straight out to the side for 30 seconds. If the player can't, it's too heavy.

Move up to a -8 when the -10 feels easy to swing, or before the player turns 13U and needs one.
